Verify the network first
Ask staff for the exact Wi-Fi name before joining. Lookalike network names can be used to attract people who connect without checking.
Connect the VPN before browsing
Open VPN Lightning immediately after joining the network, then select Connect before opening email, banking or work tools. Automatic protection can connect the VPN when your device joins an untrusted network.
Forget the network when leaving
Remove the public network from your saved Wi-Fi list so the device does not reconnect later. Keep file sharing and device discovery disabled while using shared networks.
